About the certification

First certificate available in the Fédération québécoise de sports électroniques (FQSE) Coaching Certification Program.
Developed by the Fédération québécoise de sports électroniques (FQSE), the Ligue Collégiale de sports électroniques (LCSE), Soutien à la réussite and Halternative Esport, the esports coach certification program emerges from a common intention to promote educational, ethical and preventive values within the video game community and in esports practice.

about the course

Educational techniques and philosophies.

The three frameworks that we use as a model are inspired by the triangle model of the didactic relationship.

We limit the size of the groups to about ten people in order to encourage participation and exchange.

Learners will be invited to reflect on their learning throughout the training (reflective education).

what the goals of this course ?

What you will get out of it. The results will vary depending on the individual participating in the training. Your initial level of knowledge and skills, your involvement and many other factors will have an impact on what you learn after the training program.
Therefore, in principle:
  • You will have a better understanding of the importance of the uniqueness of each individual in the practice of coaching.
  • You will have a better understanding of how an individual learns and some of the factors that influence learning.
  • You will have a better understanding of the performance factors that affect video game play.
  • You will have a better understanding of the principles of strategy and tactics.
  • You will be able to build training sessions and learning activities.
  • You will be able to make basic strategic plans and build your first bank of tactics.
  • You will have a better understanding of cyberaddiction and other issues related to internet and technology use.

Framework 1: Didactical and Philosophical

  • How does an individual learn?
  • What types of knowledge can be learned/acquired/mastered/developed and to what extent can this knowledge be learned/acquired/mastered/developed?
  • What role does motivation play in the learning process?
  • How can learning (and training) be structured/planned?
  • What is the function of evaluation and feedback?

Framework 2: Performance and Training

  • What are the performance factors in esports?
  • What are the types of training in esports?
  • What are the components of a training session?
  • What is the difference between strategy and tactics?
  • What are the principles to consider when developing a strategic plan for esports?
  • What are the principles to consider when developing a tactics bank for esports?

Framework 3: Individual and Social.

  • What is the place of listening (to oneself and to others) in the coach's practice?
  • To what extent does the social environment(s) influence the individual (coach and athletes)?
  • What role does reflective practice play in the practice of the coach (and athletes)?
  • What role should the coach play in the prevention/intervention of esports related cyber issues?
